“These are the times that try men's souls.”
I'm having a hard understanding your post, that 7,000 dollars is for the total cost to educate the student, not just transportation. 50% of my taxes go to the school system. It's far cheaper to send my kids to public school, than private school.

P.S. I'm not a BTO, but I do have a lot of land, pay a lot of taxes. Only three kids, the family living in town gets a lot better deal. They only pay taxes on their house, same number of kids. Great deal for them, I pay on same on house, same kids, plus I get to pay on farms in both states, only send kids to one school system.

Lot of things I don't like about public schools, but for the dollar I think we get a somewhat fair deal. My kids are doing very well in school. The first one just went to college, was offered several scholarships. It's what they want to make of the system, not the system making the kid.
