Subject: Finishing steers on Land O Lakes feed in self feeder

wcmn
Does anyone else finish Holstein steers on the land O lakes Steakmaker finisher with whole shelled corn in a self feeder? I have started finishing a few and they are always 22 to 23 months old before they are at 1500 lbs or finished to sell. They say you don't need any roughage for them to eat, so I have not had anything out in the past but now and putting a corn stalk bale in a feeder as I am having some high sided ones. I have watched the daughters 4-H calf and he did nearly 3 lbs per day up to 776 and after that he only did 1.9, which is terrible. Just wondering what others have found. Thanks.
