NE Kansas | The manufacturer does not want you to take the item back to the store. Most of the time there is a phone number in the instructions. When I worked at several large retail establishments, we would give parts from a new item. Then we would just call headquarters (or email) and get a replacement for the parts. No problem. That is a reason that a lot of put together items have extra parts. They plan for it.
