West central IL | You’ll be far more successful finding a niche in another industry, doing some smart hustling, and convert those profits into farmland. Once you’ve got some farmland things can snowball. The reality is farmland has been on an extreme bull market run for twenty years and anyone not already somewhat ahead of the game sure looks to be playing with fire buying significant acreage on debt right now. Land never pays for itself, but right now it REALLY doesn’t pay for itself. That may never change, but my guess is there’ll be opportunities in the next twenty years. But they won’t feel like opportunities because farming will suck in that moment with not much brightness on the horizon. | |
