Northwest Iowa | I was a commodities broker for about 5 years. Early afternoon, I was usually able to bug out unless someone was in who wanted to watch the bonds, S&P, or metals. The best work days you sat there and watched the beautiful weather while the phone never rang! I worked 5 years at a pork packing plant 2nd shift. I also farmed and managed a hog barn at that time. Helped me get back on my feet but I was always tired!!!!!! Scheduling worked pretty good as I was home in daylight hours and could get kids to Dr and Dentist, etc. besides farm work. Worked in a "cubicell" for 5 years. Pay was good but the set work time every day was frustrating. Crop Insurance adjust for the last 10 years. Flexibility is wonderful!!! Pay, pretty good. I wish I had started out with this years ago. Planting and spring is no problem. Bean harvest can get pretty busy being the downside. | |
