| Stay off of 93 and take 93A through the Banff area, they run parallel to each other, there is more wildlife, and a lot less traffic. All of the natural attractions are well marked. We went to Lake Louise late in the day and could park in the parking lot, during the day you have to take a bus. Banff was very crowded, but the trails along 93 did not seem crowded at all.
We drove from Yellowstone to Jasper a few years ago, and to be honest we loved Yelowstone and everything in Canada, but 1 day in Glacier was about enough to see most things.
edit to correct: Stay off 1 and take 1A, not 93/93a
