This is just what our experience was on a big cam 3.
We replaced the cam and bearings, along with the rollers the push rods run on.
We petty much did an out of frame only in frame. Several of us worked together and as we had time on it.
When we fired it up it ran fine and then went to smoking like yours. We drove it about 13 miles that way to my storage shed as the previous owners bank decided they had a lien on it. ( Title was clean and lien free).
Any way, it set there for a few weeks before we drove it back to the shop. By the time we got it back to the shop it was running better.
We finally decided that the engine was just prelubed to much and it was excess oil
In your picture it appears there is oil in the top of the piston also.
