Where did the cam come from? Is this the same engine as in the Jan. 9 post linked by Shimmy that came down due to a problem on cylinder 2? Were all these upgrade all added during an in-frame, so cam never came out? Don’t know about these 855s but popping in an engine is often a sign of a wasted cam lobe/lack of valve travel. Dial indicate the push rod travel and compare cylinders 1 & 2. If this is the problem my guess would be if an experienced Cummins guy would have set the overhead he would have noticed this.

Yes, cam came out. Cam has to come out, to change the cam key, in relation to the cam gear. I had an experienced Cummins guy run the OH. |
