central Virginia | I'm guessing this is a multifaceted situation. Not knowing your location I don't know if you're in an "important" watershed. In our area there is no telling how much government money has been thrown at fencing out of creeks. Everything associated with fencing has gone up in price. The lack of people willing to work has made labor skyrocket for helper jobs that don't really require much talent, just a strong back and willingness to come to work most days. It's astonishing how most respondents to your question vilify your amazement to such price gouging, yet continue to produce agriculture commodities for relatively the same price for 30 years.
Good luck finding someone to do what you're asking in your budget. The cheap labor, cheap money has been replaced with covid excuses. | |
