Subject: RE: Active Pneumatic vs Hydraulic down force

Tuscola, IL
Even at 5-6 mph, ground conditions are changing more times than an air system could ever hope to react. Is it worth $1000 per row or is there $24,000 of return? That is a question with way too many variables and is different for every person on earth. The hydraulic system is better than the air system because of individuality and reaction time. Whether that translates to a return is user condition specific. But, if I had a choice of buying one or the other, whether upgrading an existing planter or choosing specs on a new planter, I wouldn’t spend the money on air of hydraulic were available. Even with it being more expensive.
