Subject: RE: Active Pneumatic vs Hydraulic down force

East Central Ia
First year here with hydraulic downforce and loved it.

We are predominantly no till with rye cover crop and varying soil types.

Have run the pneumatic downforce for 10 years prior, the active downforce didn’t even make it the first season before we turned it off and ran it manually. WAY WAY WAY to slow to adjust and only 5 sensors on a 60’ planter was woefully inadequate.

This is on a 2012 DB60 36r20” planter.

Added Ag Leader hydraulic down force and high speed meters. Very impressed with how things look.

We would see 50-100lbs of up lift and 400 lbs of downforce in the same pass… sometimes at the same time on diff rows.
