I did raise my prices somewhat at the beginning of the year. I'm comfortable with my current retail beef price levels. The main reason I got into selling retail in the first place is because I was tired of seeing my Herefords take a beating price wise at the auction. What's changed is the market for live steers. The sale barn recently is presenting a more competitive priced market, even for good Herefords, which requires a lot less of my time than retail. Nice to have options. I'll continue with both markets as long as the sale barn price stays up and competitive. |
