Good post Oliver …..my son was one of the truck drivers tasked with hauling hogs to the euthanizing site.  To say we had mixed emotions about this would be a understatement.

Several years ago there was a thread on this forum about the price of calves and cows, and one of our members from the more southern/southeast area of our country explained that a lot of the cattleman in these areas are what would be considered “hobby”. 25-60 head of cows running on what some would consider “rough ground”.

He related that those operations will always have cows around regardless of the prevailing economics. Thusly his premise was that they make it harder for the guys that are trying to run cows and make a living.

Does that make them any less of a livestock guy? Any more?
