I think what Jim is missing is most farmers are doing it to feed their family.
Jim is retired and does it for a hobby, the money comes second.
If you think I’m wrong who here has grazed $7 corn.
FYI i haven't had cattle grazing corn for years.
My point here is NOT that large operations dont care for their cattle. I know most of them do take care.
The thing that i did not understand is how any caring person can say that the loss of 25000 or so cattle due to heat is a "non-event" or is such a "small percent of the total cattle herd" that it is "insignificant".
Clicker's reply of cattle being (only) an "economic commodity" is what got me thinking about this as a was driving around and around tedding hay yesterday. |
