Itta Bena Mississippi | We've used red planters over the full range of conventional to no til with no atachments for years and will say that it just depends on conditions. After all the rain we've had, my paratilled then rolled beds I'd normal just sit down on and plant are so hard (and wooly) that I'm running a Liliston and do all in front of the planter. Before the May monsoon we wewre just planting it with excellent results, but for the 1st time in 10 years, my flat planted notil was a bust and I lost 450 acres, 120 of that which was planted with a new AGCO White experimental planter.
In the no til and min til, I've learned to keep my speed down to 4.5 planting cotton and corn and planting .5-1" deeper. Maybe with row cleaner you could go faster, but I'd be afraid of the ground crusting because you had a moist strip. Good luck over there. Tom | |
