I believe JD has a shield available that is supposed to keep the trash out of the chains. Perhaps the cost would be too high but you may get an idea to come up with something that may do the same thing. The 4430 we use on the planter was getting weaker and weaker. Had the rear hydraulic pump replaced and an internal leak fixed in the offseason and what a difference that made.
