He said a quarter of land so I figured it was corn to equal 23,000 bu. He said he hauled one way in the post = 10 miles divided by 6 miles per gallon = 1.67 gallons of fuel x $2.20 a gallon = $3.674 per load of say around 1000 bu. x 23 loads = $84.502 to haul 23,000 bu. home. In all reality I should have figured back to the field again so you could maybe add $60 to that so $144.50 round trip. Yes, I did not figure anything for labor because he needs someone in the field to run the bagger (I was guessing) I just figured you needed another person, and I guess I didn't figure maintance on the truck which would be very minimal on 23,000 bushel if you figure 460 miles for the loads and oil change at 15,000 and tires at 30,000 to 50,000 miles. Now the next question is, Do you need the truck anyways? If you do you can't really count it as an expense totally towards the bagging side. Don't get me wrong guys, I am all for the bagging, I think it is a good concept, but for me.... I don't know yet! I just reread his post and he is only hauling 8000bu., so that is only 8 trips, not 23. $29.36 plus, not $480.
