| Also, apparently the 'blue' engine has the right oil pan since it fit in the old machine. It appears as though several parts were removed and the yard did end up hitting the alternator and breaking off a tab (fortunately one I'm not using). The salvage guys made a very nice wooden cradle for the engine so I can't see the oil pan, but I drilled a hole tonight (fork lift is put away) and it has sump in the same place as my original engine (on the front side). I'm still having trouble thinking that the blue engine intake manifold is older since it looks more 'modern' (ie. squared off instead of round, larger plenum volume).
Overall, if this engine runs half way decent it will have been lots less work and expense than finding the 'right' engine or installing another brand.

Ps: I'm not that worried about it being a morphidite - probably because I'm not thinking about selling it any time soon.
