Seems like it was based on a differential: like 50 degrees above the outside air temperature (ambient) ? Hope someone chimes in on this.

Anyway... I am able to monitor the actual grain temperature on my DMC system, which is a different thing altogether from "in-bin" drying. But for food grade corn, I can never allow the actual grain temperature to exceed 105 degrees or it starts to stress crack.
