There are good ones and bad ones around here. Many people buy on price only and do not spec them out for the long run.

I have a neighbor that spec'd hers out for maximum energy efficiency (6" walls, extra insulation in the attic, ect). Her heating bill is extremely LOW. That leaves extra dollars in her pocket every month to pay down the mortgage faster. But she did skimp on other areas (the carpet and flooring have all had to be replaced in 10 years time).

I have another neighbor that bought the cheapest modular he could get. It is also ten years old and needs a new roof and siding (used blue siding that faded BAD). Some of the siding blew off last year and I noticed there was NO sheeting under it. The studs were 3" instead of 3.5". 4" of isulation in the attic.

If you are buying new, then you can spec it anyway that you want. If you are buying used: BUYER BEWARE!
