Little River, TX | Cy,
A major difference is your summer sum arrives earlier and quits later than it does here, but our sun is more intense. That and being further west local sun time noon is about 30 minutes after it is for you.
The early morning humidity is why I rake at first light. Your Extension Specialest, Dan Undersander, has put out some information that works here.
I normally leave the barn when the RH is going through 70%, and the dew has burnt off.
I will take my time and get the bale length and weight where I want it and by then the bale moisture is in a safe range. Then in about 2 to 3 hours late the hay will start shattering leaves and if not done I have to quit baling. Usually by 2 PM CDT our humidity is in the 40% range. We do not see the real low humidifies because of the moisture coming off the Gulf of Mexico. | |
