Southeast Colorado | I'm amazed how many guys custom bale around here right during the heat of the day. I know my baler could do it but my goodness what sorry bales that makes. I guess with corn stalks or wheat straw really it doesn't matter that much. It is probably going to be ground up anyway. As far as the quantity of bales you can make in an hour, I think it might be important to know how much they are weighing. We've baled a lot of cane hay that is making good tonnage and maybe a little over 40 an hour with net and a JD 568 is all we can do. That is for a 13 to 1400 lb bale. Most around here don't want them any bigger because it tears up their handling equipment when they get heavy. I once was making 50 an hour and then I realized that my tension wasn't tight enough and I was kicking out 1000 lb. bales.
