Little River, TX | The hourly charge is a reflection of the actual cost of owning the baler, prorated hourly, plus a rough estimate of the maintenance cost, prorated hourly, plus POL prorated, plus labor Plus the same estimates for the tractor.
In theory, in good hay a RB can kick out 20 bales an hour. When rough ground, odd shaped fields, obstacles, size of the windrows, difficulty in starting a bale, reduce the number of bales an hour from the potential.
For a long time I considered the cost of a round baler to be $150/hour. In the mean time the cost of the equipment has gone up.
I was surprised that over $4 fuel did not add that much to the hourly cost, but it was and is a psychological problem.
