For your dye test, just go to your local welding store and order a PT (dye-penetrant) test kit. The kit should include 3 aerosol cans, one dye, one developer and one cleaner. You will also need a toothbrush to work in the dye. Just make sure when cleaning the area to be checked that you do not use a wire wheel. By doing so it will make it difficult for the dye to penetrate into the defect if there is any.
