You bring up a key point on knowing the time. I have been toying with a home built method of post-processing for about a year now using MapInfo/MapBasic. I had always assumed that the AgLeader yield monitors took their time from GPS if available, WRONG! Time comes from their own clock regardless of GPS. This has been a huge challenge as a lot of monitors (that I have encountered) have never had the clock set in them, thus having true time stamps to say machine 1 was here before machine 2 is questionable.
I guess this leads to a related question, does anyone know if the GS systems take time from the GPS if available? Does the Insight update time from GPS if available?
What I had to do last year after harvest was take my cell phone (GPS sourced clock) to each combine and figure out an offset, shift all the time stamps, then I could proceed with determining which machine was where first. That worked for this year, but what do I do for previous years, or other peoples data?
