| I agree with all you say, and I also like the upgradability of the unit; but as to the value of the unlock, I have never seen an unlocked one for sale (certainly not locally) to really know. A used permanently unlocked unit would likely appeal to an RTK-only market, since they're paying for the unlock anyway (although at a reduced second-hand price). Maybe there will be several come on the market once something replaces the EZ 500 in the future. It seems used electronics as a whole depreciate quickly, and software even more so. This is less of an issue for a farmer with 10,000 acres vs 1000, since a big producer is primarily after what the technology will do for the operation, while a smaller farmer has to keep at little bit of an eye on the residual value in addition to guidance solutions. | |
