Southwest Illinois
We put it in 4 years ago in a new house. 3 Zones and a 5ton unt with all ductwork was 15K. At the time a high efficiency furnace with duct was around 8K. At the time propane was running 80-90cents. We figured a payback of 7 years. With propane over $2 today I'm thinking that payback will be quicker. They say if you get to the north you either have to have some additional gas heat or run the super duper expensive coil heater when temps get real cold. We've never hooked up the emergency coil and there have been 3 mornings that it was calling for the emergency coil. We are near ST. Louis MO. We heat, cool and provide hot water to a 3000 sf house for $40-90 per month(not including lighting and other electric use). I do have a gas fireplace and a stove that uses 300 gallons per year depending on how much we use it.
