Hi mennoboy, put one in an old farm house ten years ago 7000$ big unit 600 ft of trenches and left the wood coal furnace in. Son is putting one in this month, 2000 square foot house ten years old, single stage 3 ton (400$ ton tax rebate) 400 foot trench and the gas furnace stays in all that is changed to the air conditioning coil, if the old coil would have been 3 ton it wouldn't needed to be changed. with a 500$ energy credit from local supplier it will cost him 5500$ and if gas prices stay the same 4 to 5 years to pay off and gas will be his backup.
my one ct Chuck
