Sounds to me like you have a good efficient way of applying p. Like you said its immobile and placing it near the seed in a band is ideal in most soils, especially heavier ones. What makes you want to change your current method? I think alot of people who spread it do so because they have the right conditions and soil types for it to work. I farm in heavy clay soils and banding p close to the plant is ideal.
