Fall of 1988 I planted some wheat to get some early feed for my hogs (drought of 88 left me short of corn).  Some other farmers in the area tried to double crop wheat/soybeans and I purchased their wheat for about 2/3 the price of corn.  Purchasing from other farmers worked well for a couple years after that, but double cropping never did catch on.
