Larry, We just finished the Dakotafest show here in SD today and catching up on reading. I was struck by your sidewall compaction comment. Seems like I have been talking about root problems for days here. In most of SD it was extremely wet at planting time, many folks at our booth talking about root growth, or lack of rootgrowth. Corn blowing over due to brace root problems etc. From comments from visitors I do think the Curvetine closing wheel made a big difference compared to the standard rubber tires trying to squeeze wet muddy slots together, only to watch them open back up again as the ground baked dry for 6 weeks or so. Planter setup can help. Two CT per row seemed to have better results than one per row in these tough conditions from my straw poll of visitors. I don't think sidewall compaction issues are unsolveable. jmho. Jim at Dawn
