| I would say to go to this sale only for education . Do you want registered cattle ? If you do , do more research , talk to more breeders , what sells and why , were are you going to sell . If you want a commercial herd , your opptions depend on your pocket book . I buy good older cows from good ranches that run good bulls . I sell all my steers ,and heifers that don't make the replacement quality . If the cow breeds back as a late calver or comes up dry or is not keeping good flesh I sell them . This is the only way I could afford to get into the cattle business . Go to your sale barn and look at what calves are selling for and what kinds of colors are selling . You are going to sell maybe a dozen calves or so a year , if you have even set of calves you are not going to take much of a hit for color . Your cattle are like your wife , you pick what you want to go out and see every day . If you want red , have at it , and thankyou for not being a lemming. | |
