I like 18 months. They are about 75% of mature weight and can get bred by the 'cow' bulls and run with the cows with no need for any special care or nutrition. Most wouldn't go this route because of how long it takes to get a calf, but once you get into the cycle of doing it, you never believe how enjoyable it can be to calve heifers.


So you must calve both fall and spring? A heifer born in the spring will eventually become part of your fall calving herd and vise versa?
