New Mexico | to less cull cows globally ( places like Brazil have 40 million less cows vs 5 years ago ) that in turn puts Up price pressure to grind chucks off the fed cattle supply in the usa.
The afore thus puts up price pressure on both choice and select chucks.
Things like 50% trim ( thus some fat to add to select chuck grinds ) may double up again.
There's almost a double up in the product since Aug 1st, 011 ( normal seasonal is in the $55 to $70 cwt range, currently in the $115 cwt range ).
$230 cwt. 50% trim in 012? Heck, why not.
50% trim btw, makes up approx 9.25% of a choice carcass.
Interesting diametric in place likely never seen before.
NO such thing as cheap feed anymore, anywhere ( times changed ).
Looks like harvest weights will be dropping long term.
Drop FI harvest weights from say 1,275 lbs per more towards say 1,175 lbs per on 600,000 usa cattle per week say Spring of 012 and beef tonnage falls thru the floor.
USA has thee only available spare exportable meat supplies on the globe.
Clara Peller is hymning for REAL now, " Where's the Beef. "
