Subject: RE: Crossing Herfy on Angi actually solves 2 problems,

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Looking through the registration paper on the registered Herefords I have, it seems like most of the sires and dams from some breeders are labeled "DLF", "HYF" and "IEF" especially the Domino lines. I understand this means they have been tested and are "Free" of these genetic defects.

Seems like folks might want to check if the semen and bulls they are buying are free of defects.  Now that I understand this a bit better I will sure be checking on the genetic background of any future bulls I purchase.

I would think that a reputable breeder, who knows more about this than I do, would test for and steer clear of any defect lines and not sell me a bull with known genetic defects.
