Subject: Re: Randy, the most important trait you sell

New Mexico
is disposition.
Bar NONE ( including supposed defects ).

Thus the "looking for a statistical theory of supposed magic numbers or formulas," scenario that alot of seedstock folks waste time on...is just that.
A waste of time.

True defect problems which show up in commercial herds are in fact Regional.
Defects are more related to the LOOK ( traits come along with looks ) of the cattle, and supposed trait ( bull ) promotions than anything else.
Genetic predominence starts from a certian base location.
In today's times, should a defect line become popuar, sales are local then Regional etc.

As time moves on, more and more defects expire so to speak.
Reason is testing has removed ( or designated ) most those lines from AI sources ( ALOT of defect bulls taken out of AI studs in 07,08,09 ).

Most commercial folks do not AI. It's that simple.

My point was that you can test black cattle for trich all you want ( or can afford perhaps ).
If the cattle have NH factors the problem of opens is likely not trich ( to bad so many folks figure that out after spending a pile of dough on supposed trich ).
