Have heard that a church in this area requires submission of all members' 1040s and then the church administration determines what the member will be donating.
sounds more like the irs than church. wonder how many would be ok with that.
the methodists used to (maybe still do) have a paid lobbiest at the state house advocating for higher taxes to support benevolence. churchs work now gets blurred with goverment spending and taxes collected under force of law.
knew of a pastor who had no problem refering to non tithers (on the gross) as leaches. he then seemed to forget about his free housing, free home heat, free cable and internet, free health insurance, free retirement contribution, ect, ect. seemed hypocritical to me, but what do i know. | |
