Subject: Re: Sorting fat cattle

Fairbury, NE (Southeast)
We use a pen about 80 ft long, about 15 ft. wide. We have two gates on the end, one large gate in the midde. The large pen feeds into the barn on the east end of the large pen. The barn is pen about 50*16. The whole group goes into the barn. Run out about 6-10 at a time out into the large pen. Sort both ways out the west side with one man running both gates. Light ones back out to the lot, Fats to the final pen leading to the loading chute. Have an angled alley with 190 degree swing gate, enough for about 18 at a time. Biggest hangup with our setup is wood loading chute floor need to rip it out and concrete it.
