| Sounds like part of your subscription fee is so you can have someone to blame if the market doesn't go your way?? Was $4.10 profitable? Did you enjoy having those sales when corn futures were at $3.50 early in the summer? Was the basis on those cash sales better than it is now?
You say you used cash sales almost exclusively ("almost solely")...., then where have the margin calls come from? There aren't any!
Perhaps your money is better spent trying to find a marketing service that; teaches you how to market without emphasizing crystal ball technology, but instead utilizes profitability, basis, carry, cash, futures, options AND market outlook-- all wrapped into one.
Next question; you are an agronomist, which makes you an expert at production right? Did you have record yields this year? If not, it sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.
Net/net, if this marketing service doesn't "feel right" to you, hire a different one, or learn it yourself. Just don't fall into the trap of hiring a crystal ball gazer, moon cycle watcher, prophet, or option only (high commission) guru. If you sell cash grain to C______LL, don't even think about their services either! Hire someone who will actuallly help YOU "MARKET" your grain! Stay away from overactive, commission hungry brokers and/or large grain conglomerates that offer marketing services also!
