SW Iowa, Clarinda | I just finished mowing my pasture tonight with a disc mower. Part of it I put up in the form of sq. bales a couple days ago...~30 bales, then tired and seen not much point due to low yield.
The best reason I can see is to reduce the chance of pink eye due to the heads of the grass/fox tale/millet bumping their eyes while grazing. The other reason is my fall calving herd starts calving in about 2 weeks and the calves are easier to spot, count, and ear tag in the freshly mowed pastures. | |
