North Mo. | The only economic reason to clip pastures is to try to rent more land from someone that has the golf course mentality. I used to clip religiously. My pastures all look crappy. Its like no till crops in the early years they looked like crap till the crop got above the weeds. Don't forget weeds capture solar energy and the organic matter they produce just goes into the soil as litter.
My cattle when they move into a new strip are just as likely to eat a so called weed as a clover or any grass and in the winter they will go after the dreaded rag weed..
But if it bothers you buy the cutter the seller will thank you. Ben | |
