Subject: RE: Name me one bull

New Mexico
Hearing about it is one thing, having a few dead calves ( 3 or 4 years in a row now ) because of the defects is quite another.

Granted only 7 this year...but like I said earlier...Just TIRED of it.

Probably not a bigger fan of using Angus or Angus cross cows than this one.

Angus defect problems Started with Precision 1680.
The defects were amplified by Angus seedstock folks actually "stacking" 1680 genetics.

Your a touch mixed up in your genetic defect lies. ( Cart before the horse so to speak )

The reason testing started is because one operator down under had a stacked set of 1680 Precisions and 3 or 4 years ago had approx 49 head of mostly dead AM ( curly calf syndrome ) calves at calfing time.
btw, That was out of 65 total cows.

A defect has to HAPPEN before there is something to test for.

Several operators I deal with ( including this one ) have had Angus and Registered Angus cows for 50 years and Never Ever had a defect calf until around 05, then on.

Your statement that these defects have been around for years? hmmmm... I simply doubt it.

It's the Precision 1680 stack.
Bull was popular in the 90's, thus over time "stacked."
By say 2005 you've got cousins used on cousins which were results of previous cousins etc., thus everything defect in said lines eventually comes to light so to speak.
