New Mexico | Angus, Red Angus cows last year ( some of em are Registered cows too ).
Calves are basically all Blacks and Reds ( get a white sock or a touch of white underline once in a while ).
Grant that the bulls are a couple generation Reds both topside and bottom side.
Bulls are from a long time breeder in Dakota, cows in those deals are Dakota and Wyoming.
Roan won't hurt Dave's deal...with the Char they're gonna be a light Red Angus color look calf...any Roan in there just looks red tan anyway. Granted if He's got some Angus/Char hiefers....could get a Blue Roan or if lucky a Tri Color there or so.
One of the best outcrosses today is simply add some Shorthorn...should really boost maternal heterosis because some of the cattle ( especially Angus ) are now multi generation linebreds.
Cannot even come up with good estimates on the inbreed coefficient factor for Angus...but it's high ( one thing most agree on ).
Estimates vary all the way from 10% to as high as 75% by some.
Whenever a breed breaks with genetic defect after defect, they're gettin em bred to close.
AM, NH, FCS, White Eye Syndrome, itty bitties, Puds and now 3 to 4 different Dwarf varients talked in the Angus circles now...Jeez 3 years ago there were supposedly No problems in the cattle.
