High Springs, Florida | Dave, I work for an electrical utility in north central Florida that is also an ISP. We are using Airmux 200 5.8 ghz radios to get internet to places we do not have fiber. We also use one set to provide network connectivity for the University of Florida's computer network in a remote location. They work really well, and give about 18 MB of "real" bandwidth at 1-2 miles range. We feed them with Cisco Catalyst 3550 switches with the fiber interface.
We also have a trial going with on Motorola MESH equipment. It is running on 2.4 ghz and 4.9 ghz licensed spectrum. The MEA protocol is much more secure than 802.11x and you can roam seamlessly between AP's and wireless routers. Soon we are going to take the Moto equiment down and trial Cisco's offering. | |
