Central Nebraska | Thanks for the input. We work all our calves in the fall. We are just starting to calve now, so by October, they are 6 months old. We will wean about 3 weeks after working so they are well healed and ready to start on the bunk feed. We will keep all the calves together for about a month, then sort of the replacement bulls so we dont have any oopses with the heifers.
I wanted to see if there was a better way or something I was missing the boat on. I agree with Mark about the best implants being the natural ones. :) Maybe someone can tell me this though, some of the vets around here are recommending to band at birth then put in the implants in the ears. Has anyone heard of that or doing it?
One thing about cattle there is always something to learn and a different perspective on how to do something. Thanks for all the comments.
