Here's what i know: You can try to use 2 routers, e.g. one in your house and the other in your shop. Replace the original antenna (on both router) with longer and more powerfull antenna. Router can "talk" to other router much better than router can "talk" to network card. I know that some router can talk to other router on 5.4 Ghz which is much better (i think) than router 'talking' to network card on 2.4 Ghz.

Oh yeah, try to use .n technology. I think Linksys only have .n draft until now, but Belkin already launch .n1 (which is newer than .n draft). Don't know about those router, i havent try any of .n router, but some people are happy about it. Or maybe you can try Asus router which is currenty promoting free upgrade whenever .n full version comes up.
