I never thought on-star was worth it until this fall when my father's 6 month old Chevy pick-up was stolen from right in front of my shop. It was stolen by 2 drifters who ran out of gas on a busy highway close to our farm. Long story short, after contacting police, who then contacted on-star the truck was located with-in a minute, it was 60 miles from where it was stolen. On-star gave the police the location, locked the truck and disengaged the ignition so it couldn't be started. He got the truck back unharmed. So now my father pays his on-star subscription faithfully.
