Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa | Thought of that fall harvest just today, was sorting thru some old pictures. Luckily I had bought a used 7720 combine 2 years earlier, a whole lot better than the old MF 510 gas. Corn harvest wet and drug out around here. We (I) had about one day's worth of standing corn left to combine. My semi-retired Dad called me at 8 p.m., told me that he had just seen one or two guys combining corn on the way home from town, and that we should plan on starting bright and early the next morning. I called him back in 10 minutes, said what the heck, let's start yet tonight. He agreed, I drove back out to the farm, we combined till 4 am or so, knocked off and took a nap for a couple of hours, got up the next morning and was done by 11 a.m. what a marathon. |
