SodbusterIII - 3/18/2024 08:08 Does farmland not require roads, drainage, fire protection , weed control, and tree removal? I believe these things all happen on my bare quarters and 80s

Roads --- yes.

Drainage --- If the land is in a drainage district that is assessed separately from ordinary property taxes.   We don't have a single acre that is in a drainage district, none of it is drained by county ditch or tile.

Fire protection  ----   yes, that is collected by the township through property taxes.   It is a very very very small amount of the property tax bill.

Weed and tree removal   ---    I've never seen the county spray any weeds or take care of any trees outside of the ROW.

Care to address the 800 lb gorilla in the room that accounts for nearly 60% of the property tax bill by itself?       I've never seen a kid enter a public school that was raised on a bare 80.

county and twsp road ditches do not help drain your land, I know they do on my land, BTW I own a excavator and when I clean my or my neighbors road ditches the bill goes to the county and they pay it. that's not to mention when spring floods happen I have been paid to clean out the county or township road ditch of the soil erosion from my or my neighbors fields. they don't take care of trees or weeds on private property in town either but they do on the public owned ground on the borders of my fields. lastly if you think the twsp property taxes is equal to what it takes to maintain a fire department for your twsp your delusional.
