| You need to see orthopedics to determine your situation and appropriate treatment for your condition. Some other person's experience or history isn't going to help you.
Not all meniscus tears are the same and the unique situations require different treatment plans. The treatment can vary from shaving the torn part to suturing the torn meniscus. Meniscus root tear can be a long recovery.
I had meniscus repair with ACL reconstruction surgery 7 weeks ago. I had a bucket handle tear of the medial meniscus.....fortunately, my surgeon was able to repair the torn flap and said it had a good prognosis for healing and I was able to put some weight on the leg after a couple weeks (had to wear a brace locked in extension for 6 wks) I was very glad that he could repair rather than resect since I had a pretty large tear. Resection of a big piece can increase the risk for arthritis later in life.
